Wade’s Gold Mill began as the dream of Les and Idella Wade…
In the fall of 1979, they started. Their goal was to build a machine that would concentrate a truckload of placer gold ore down to a single pan filled with gold and other dense minerals.
Over the years, they realized their dream, and built upon it. With the help of their family and community, they started to acquire pieces of antique mining equipment and restoring it to working condition, if possible. When Les and Idella passed away in 2001, they left a legacy of creativity, ingenuity and history.
Wade’s Gold Mill is still a family business, currently operated by Les and Idella’s son, Bob. The family invites you to stop in and learn about gold mining in the Black Hills. While you visit, we hope you can relax, take in the pine air, and have fun taking a step back in time. |
